Radio Interview Tips

You are an author and have a radio interview coming up and you need to prepare for it. Let us help you. Here are some tips to help:

  • Research the radio show and find out as much as possible.
  • Research  your host and their audience, be knowledgeable about your target audience.
  • Make sure you know the proposed length of the interview.
  • Provide the station with a list of possible questions to ask you
  • Have a list of bullet points in front of you during the interview.  What are your key messages? Think about the points you could make which are most interesting, useful, and relevant to the audience.
  • Role play in advance
  • Speak slowly and clearly and avoid using any “ums, ahs, ers, and you-know”
  • Have a glass of water close by
  • Avoid shuffling papers on the desk
  • Use every opportunity to promote your product and product name, but don’t continuously use the product name throughout the whole interview.  Mention your web site
  • Think of creative ways of explaining things.  Paint a picture to the audience build on it  by telling short anecdotes that perfectly illustrate certain points
  • If your interview is a call-in, make sure you are using a land-line and that call-waiting is turned off
  • Dogs, cats and children should not be in the same room as you
  • Be honest and friendly and avoid confrontation
  • Ask  your family and friends to listen to the show and to give constructive criticism

More testimonials for Ascot Media

The good news just keeps on coming  about  results from the  efforts of Trish Stevens and her team.

I recently hired Ascot Media Group to handle the  publicity for my book Storm Over Morocco. Trish Stevens and Marian LaSalle  are a very loyal and efficient team. Within a month they had arranged 5 TV appearances including 2 Fox News interviews. I highly recommend them to anyone needing a jump-start on publicity.

As a brand new author, I was admittedly quite overwhelmed not only by the nuances of the publishing world but even more so the the marketing required for a new book title by a previously unpublished, although known, writer. Trish Stevens and her team has embraced my project and made it as important as if it were their own.

I have not only been blessed with a super publicity group but with friends who embrace my passion and do everything they can to help me share my vision. If you want a publicity company that will not only put their best foot forward but will stand behind you 150%. go to ASCOT MEDIA.
